Publication Ethics

Fabrica Litterarum Polono-Italica functions in compliance with the guidelines of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Authors

  1. Authors are bound to submit only original and previously unpublished manuscripts. All other authors and publications mentioned in the text should be referenced correctly with regard to both their names and titles, and the style sheet adopted by Fabrica Litterarum. Plagiarism is unacceptable and condemned.
  2. Having filled the authorship statement, the author confirms that the submission does not violate copyright law. Moreover, the author declares that the manuscript is an original work that has not been previously submitted to any other book or journal.
  3. The author agrees that his or her submission will be published under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International Licence (CC BY-SA 4.0).
  4. In order to hold to the highest standards of academic work and publishing practices, Fabrica Litterarum condemns unethical behaviour and scholarly misconduct, and launches a variety of procedures aimed at verifying the submitted texts. Because of that, each co-authored publication has to be submitted along with a detailed statement declaring the affiliation of each author and assessing their contribution to the article (with regard to the individual input of methods, concepts, assumptions). Full responsibility for sharing false information lies on the person submitting the manuscript.

Editors

  1. The Editors accepts exclusively the texts that have not been previously published in part or in whole. The Editorial Board focuses on the integrity of published texts and pays utmost attention to their high academic, editorial, and aesthetic standards.
  2. The Editorial Board rejects the texts that do not meet the formal criteria.
  3. The Editors are responsible for publishing issues on time and they are obliged to cooperate with the Publishing House on each stage of the publishing process.
  4. The Editors should prevent conflicts of interests between the Authors, the Reviewers, and the members of the Academic Board.
  5. The Editors guarantee that extra-academic circumstances (i.e. race, religious beliefs, background, nationality, class, sexual orientation, age, political views) do not affect either assessment or recommendation of submissions.
  6. The Editors never disclose the identities of the reviewers to the authors or vice versa.
  7. The Editors never return the texts, except for those whose authors have been directly invited to publish in an issue, and do not contact the authors in such situations.

Reviewers

  1. The reviewers are obliged to produce review forms in the time frame of five weeks after receiving a manuscript. Each possible delay should be individually reported to the secretary beforehand.
  2. Reviewed manuscripts are confidential, and thus will not be disclosed to the third parties.
  3. Each review should be objective in its assessment of the academic value of each contribution that has to be clearly stated in the reviewer’s form. Ad personam arguments are by all means condemned and forbidden.
  4. Each flaw, insufficiency, and negligence present in the reviewed submissions should be reported by the reviewer.
  5. The submissions cannot be used by the reviewers for other purposes than the publishing process, be it in part or in whole. It is forbidden to review an article that is involved in the conflict of interest concerning the author and the reviewer(s).

Corrections

  1. Unintentional errors are part of science and the publishing process. They, therefore, require correction when detected.
  2. We publish corrections to fix errors in “Fabrica…" articles if, in our judgment, all of the following criteria are met:
    – Errors affect the main content or correct understanding of the article.
    – The overall results and conclusions of the article are upheld.
    – There is no doubt as to its reliability and scientific value reported work.
  1. „Fabrica…” may also publish a correction to address an error that affects key aspects of the publication’s metadata (e.g., misspelling of an author’s name, or errors in the competing interests, funding, or data availability statement).
  2. “Fabrica…" does not publish corrections for typographical errors or other minor stylistic issues that do not materially affect the article’s scientific integrity, comprehension, or indexing. In case of these problems, authors are encouraged to inform readers about the errors by sending errata to the Publisher’s address. It will be published in the following (next) journal issue.


Retractions

  1. The journal’s editors will begin withdrawing a specific publication if the article has previously been published elsewhere without appropriate information on this subject or constitutes plagiarism.
  2. Already published articles will not be removed from a particular volume of the journal or electronic archives. Still, their status will be appropriately determined, and how ethical principles are violated will be precisely described.
  3. Additionally, the scientific institution whose affiliation was indicated by the article’s author will be notified.
